Rahul Dravid -"The Wall"

Rahul Dravid,one of the elegant and consistent player in the history of Indian cricket.He is well known by the classical shots made by him.Popularly known as "The Wall of Indian Cricket".He is the title holder of many world records.He retired from the first class cricket last month after his 16 years of glorious cricket life.

                                                      It's quite amazing that he scored 23% of the Indian score played under Ganguly's captaincy in test matches.He is the team man for the victory of India against many countries.He is the second batsman to score century in both innings in a test match after Don Bradman.He was made the captain of Indian cricket team.Eventhough,he was a  man of number of  world records,his excellence was not well rewarded and accepted.But he is a star in the heart of crores of cricket fans.Hats off to "The Great Wall".

'POTHANICAD'-My Hometown

Pothanicad is a beautiful village located in the Ernakulam district in the Indian state of Kerala.POTHANICAD is the first village in India to achieve 100% literacy in India.The name derives from the Malayalam words poth, meaning buffalo, anaa, meaning elephant, and kaddu, meaning forest, as it was originally a forest with wild buffalos and elephants.It's a beautiful village with the greenish scenaries and small streams and rivers.Now, this small village has developed into one of the most educated and culturally advanced villages in Kerala. St. Mary's High School is the oldest high school in Pothanicad. A Government lower primary school and two other private senior secondary high schools with CBSEcurriculum also gives better education for the young community.


            Pothanicad is 16 km away from Thommankuthu water falls , the nearest tourist location and approximately 22 km from well known bird’s sanctuary Thattekkad near Kothamangalam.There is a statue of a village woman holding lantern and slate in the heart of our village,as the monument of first village achieving cent percent litercay.

Another year comes and knocks on our door........Recieve the year joyfully with new decisions,hopes,dreams and aspirations.
